Ever since Bigil was aired on Sun TV last Sunday, Vijay fans have gotten more active on social media wanting to know more about their favourite star. His upcoming film Master couldn’t release as planned for Summer 2020 due to the outbreak of Coronavirus. The Master fever has not even subsided yet but Thalapathy Vijay fans are already high on his next project Thalapathy 65, for which, Vijay is expected to team up with AR Murugadoss once again. Coming back to Master, this movie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj of Maanagaram and Kaithi fame, is being bankrolled by Xavier Britto under his XB Film Creators banner. The movie has been creating quite a buzz with every passing day and the makers are hoping to release this big budget entertainer for either Diwali 2020 or Pongal 2021. Meanwhile, Amazon Prime has now released a photo with the set of their new releases in its OTT platform for the month of August. To everyone’s surprise, Thalapathy Vijay’s Master finds its name in the list. It is said that Master will be released on the 14th of August. It looks like, as per the original agreement, had the film been released on April 9th as planned, the film would have released on Amazon Prime for Independence Day weekend but now that the theatrical release of Master has been pushed, we feel Master’s OTT release will also be pushed. There is also a report that says that this Master that Amazon Prime has mentioned is about a Hollywood movie with the same name that released in the year 2017. We might have to wait till August 14 to know if that is true.

The producer of the film Xavier Britto made it very clear that Master will not have direct OTT release last month while addressing the media. “Master will not release directly on OTT no matter on long it takes for all the theatres to reopen because the budget of the film is so huge. So, we will release the film directly on theatres no matter what and how long it takes. It could be this year’s Diwali or even next year’s Pongal. We will get clear picture once things get settled and when the theatre industry gets back to business.” So, we are confident that production house hasn’t changed their minds as yet. Moreover, if a film like Master is planned for a direct OTT release for mid-August, the promotions for the same must have started long back. So, this list issued by Amazon Prime looks to be dated and not true.
