Popular actress Mandira Bedi’s husband Raj Kaushal passed away in the wee hours on Wednesday morning after he suffered a cardiac arrest. He was 49. An actor and filmmaker, the news of Raj Kaushal's demise was announced on social media by director Onir who tweeted, "Gone too soon. We lost Film maker and Producer @rajkaushal1 this morning. Very Sad. He was one of the producers of my first film #MyBrotherNikhil. One of those few who believed in our vision and supported us. Prayers for his soul."

According to reports, Mandira and Raj Kaushal hosted a get-together party this past Sunday, which saw many notable names attend among whom included their close friends Angad Bedi, Neha Dhupia, Sagarika Ghatge, cricketer Zaheer Khan, Ashish Chaudhary and his wife. Upon hearing the unfortunate news of Raj Kaushal's passing, Ashish Chaudhary was one of the first people to reach Mandira's residence. Condolences have been pouring in from fans and many celebrities in the film fraternity as actor Rohit Roy expressed his grief on social media. He tweeted, "One of the nicest guys you could ever have met… and if u were lucky, u could have called him your friend… And just like that, he’s gone, even without saying good bye too numb with grief and shock to react… This is not fair, just not fair… Raj, my friend, my brother… keep spreading the cheer where ever your next abode is…" Likewise, actor Tisca Chopra too tweeted, "Cannot believe #RajKaushal isn’t with us any more .. just so shocking. My hear goes out to @mandybedi and her two lovely kids #RIP our happy smiling Raj.. your gentle soul will be missed."

Mandira Bedi and Raj Kaushal got married in 1999 and have two children, Vir and Tara. The couple adopted Tara in 2020. Announcing the news of their decision to adopt a child, Mandira wrote in a social media post, "She has come to us, Like a blessing from above, Our little girl, Tara. Four years and a bit, With eyes that sparkle like stars, Sister to her Vir. Welcoming her home, With open arms and pure love, Grateful, thankful, blessed. Tara Bedi Kaushal became a part of our family on 28th July 2020. welcoming her to the family." While Raj Kaushal has made appearances in a few Bollywood films, including directing ventures namely Anthony Kaun Hai (2006), Shaadi Ka Laddoo (2004), Pyaar Mein Kabhi Kabhi (1999), Mandira gained popularity starring in the 90s TV soap Shanti as well as roles in films like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge starring Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol and Silambarasan TR's Manmadhan in Tamil.
