A film that had been the talk of the town for nearly two years, Dhanush's Jagame Thandhiram, finally premiered on Netflix on June 18, after producer S. Sashikanth's Y Not Studios opted out of a theatrical release in view of the pandemic. Expectations for the gangster action drama were massive considering director Karthik Subbaraj was coming off the success of 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Petta and his association with the two-time National Award winner Dhanush sparking instant interest. However, Jagame Thandhiram has received a mixed response since its Netflix release, with praises predominantly being showered upon Dhanush who is thunderous throughout the film, including the other members of the cast like Aishwarya Lekshmi, Joju George, James Cosmo and Kalaiyarasan and music director Santhosh Narayanan.

With two weeks already since Jagame Thandhiram's premiere, the film has been debated extensively among fans on social media, with various opinions about the story and the narrative continuing to be registered. Having said that, one aspect of the film that has received a unanimous approval has been the 'Rakita Rakita Rakita' song, which has Dhanush and Sanchana Natarajan tapping their feet to Santhosh Narayanan's exciting rustic raw folk beats. Sanchana, who appears only in the song in the film, has become a show-stealer with her steps, while also lauding Dhanush for once again triumphing on top with his electrifying dance.

Sung by Dhanush, Santhosh Narayanan and Dhee to the lyrics penned by Vivek and choreography by Baba Bhaskar, the 'Rakita Rakita Rakita' song was first released as a single track on the occasion of the Karnan actor's birthday last year. The song had turned out to be a smash hit and has once again topped the charts after the film's release. With the film currently streaming on Netflix, the makers of Jagame Thandhiram have now officially released the 'Rakita Rakita Rakita' video song on the Sony Music YouTube channel.
