Lady Superstar Nayanthara and Prithviraj Sukumaran will be headlining director Alphonse Puthren's highly anticipated film Gold. Taking to his Twitter handle on Monday, June 6, Prithviraj dropped the poster featuring more than 40 actors and actresses. The quirky looking poster features the leading duo alongside Jagadish, Babu Raj, Vinay Ford, Lalu Alex, Shammi Thilakan, Ajmal Ameer, Baburaj, Mallika Sukumaran, Prem Kumar, and Shanthi Krishna among many others. Bankrolled by Supriya Menon and Listin Stephen, Gold will has been scheduled to hit the screens on 19 August 2022.
Director Alphonse Puthren had also recently announced that the final stages of the film which included its editing, its poster design, its music and sound recording, were all under work in full swing. The film's teaser was released couple months back and was well received for its catchy music and tunes.
After a fan query on Facebook, Alphonse Puthren responded the comment saying, "Please don't expect KGF, RRR or Vikram from GOLD. In GOLD there is not even a gun or gun shot. Please don't expect a film from me like NERAM or PREMAM either. GOLD might be similar to NERAM, but it is unique in its own way. There are more than 40 characters newly written for GOLD. We all will try to entertain you. That our team will guarantee."
He made his debut in feature films in 2013 with Neram, the full-length feature film version of his short film. The bilingual Tamil and Malayalamf film starred Nivin Pauly, Nazriya Nazim and Bobby Simha in lead roles. He wrote the screenplay and also edited the film. He directed the film Premam in 2015 which starred Nivin Pauly, while also writing the screenplay, editing and acting in a cameo role in the film. He also edited the 'Ding Dong Promo Cut' for the film Super Deluxe. Alphonse is directing Gold for the first time in nearly seven years following the success of Premam in 2015. Alphonse is making this film in the action thriller genre.
