Actress Vijayalakshmi first made heads turn in Tamil cinema after starring in the 'Thalapathy' Vijay and Suriya starrer, Friends, in 2001. She has since gone on to be seen in notable roles in films like Boss Engira Bhaskaran alongside Arya and Nayanthara and the 2017 Meesaya Murukku, which had her playing the role of Hiphop Tamizha Aadhi's mother. Many across the state were in for a shock when the actress attempted suicide by consuming sleeping tablets and was subsequently admitted to a hospital in late July. 

Vijayalakshmi is now once again making headlines as per reports that state the actress owes to the owner of a private home/lodge rent dues for nearly eight months. It is being stated that the owner had filed a police complaint at the Thiruvanmiyur police station requesting for the pending rent for her stay be recovered from her. Reports further add that the actress will be making the payments for the dues soon. 

Earlier, in her suicide attempt, Vijayalakshmi had stated in a video that she was resorting to such a decision as she had come under a lot of stress from Naam Tamilar Katchi leader Seeman and his partymen as she has been alleging for many years that he had an affair with her and left her. Having moved from Bengaluru to Chennai this February, the actress said in the video that she had made her best attempts to survive for her mother and sister. She added that she had been put through humiliation by Harinadar in the media. 

Vijayalakshmi further stated in the video that she was tortured by Seeman and she had put up to the best of her abilities. She claimed that she was from the Pillai community, the same community LTTE leader Prabhakaran was a part of, but was unable to handle the pressure. She said that Seeman is the person he is today because of Prabhakaran, while adding that he had been harassing her on social media. She informed viewers in the video that Seeman had slut-shamed her to make her feel pain and was the reason why she had decided to issue the statement. She requested viewers not to let Seeman get away and added that he should not get anticipatory bail. She concluded the video stating then that her death should come as a big wake up call for everybody.
