It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The numbers have been remaining steadily high for quite some time now! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5890 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 326,245! Of these, 1187 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 114,260! Kancheepuram has recorded 315 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 13409, while 2697 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 20080 total cases of which 3077 are currently active and Madurai has recorded a total of 12561 cases with 1057 of them being currently active. Thiruvallur alone has recorded 495 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 437 new cases and Theni has recorded 367 new cases!

There have been 117 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 5514. The number of deaths per day has now crossed 100 for more than 10 days and it doesn't seem to be going down! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 114,260 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 53,716 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 11,209! The number of recoveries has been dipping below the number of new infections! There have been 5556 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 267,015. There have been 70,153 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 3,569,453 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
