While the whole world has been racing against time to identify a vaccine or cure for the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus, Russia earlier today announced the registering of its first COVID vaccine! However, there are still some speculations amongst the medical fraternity over this vaccine - Sputnik V, named after the famous Soviet satellite! Currently, Tamil Nadu is the second most infected state in India, by this deadly Corona Virus. However, Tamil Nadu has also been leading the way in the number of samples tested per day and now we hear that an alternate form of treament followed in the state is working wonders against COVID! We hear that the traditional Siddha system of medicine has helped treat nearly 6000 COVID patients so far, in Tamil Nadu!
A report states that nearly 5725 patients have been successfully cured of the Corona Virus at 11 exclusive Siddha COVID-19 Care Centres (CCC), across Tamil Nadu, till August 7th! There are two such Siddha CCC facilties in Chennai - 1 at Jawahar Vidhyalaya and the other at Dr. Ambedkar Government Arts College, in Vyasarpadi! They have been offering Siddha-based treatment for asymptomatic COVID patients and have been handling very heavy caseloads. We hear that these 2 centres alone have treated over 3200 patients, till August 7th! Currently, there are 432 patients undergoing treatments at these 2 facilities in Chennai, while 715 other patients are said to be undergoing treatment at the remaining Siddha CCCs. Vellore comes in next to Chennai in the number of COVID cases treated with Siddha, numbered at 1258 cases.
Apart from the two Siddha CCCs in Chennai district, there are 2 more in Theni and one each in Thiruvannamalai, Vellore, Thachur, Ranipet, Thirupatthur, Tenkasi, Coimbatore and Villupuram! We also hear that two more such exclusive Siddha CCCs have been started recently at Pudukottai and Salem. The Tamil Nadu government has ordered that the 'Kabasura Kudineer' (medicated water) be included in the integrated approach to fight COVID. The Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami had also earlier launched the "Arokyam" special programme for fighting COVID-19, in April. This programmed was launched with AYUSH intervention, looking to integrate Ayurvedha, Yoga, Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy, in fighting the Corona Virus. The 'Kabasura Kudineer' is being provided to all the patients, visitors and healthcare professionals in all the Government Covid Care Centres, across the state! The Siddha CCCs involve a wholistic daily routine & dietary regime, apart from Siddha medicines to treat the COVID patients!
