Aug 11 - TN COVID Update: 5834 New Cases | 118 New Deaths | Total - 308,649 Cases & 5159 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The numbers have been remaining steady but the daily death rate has crossed 100 consistently for well over a week now! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5834 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 308,649! Of these, 986 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 111,054! Kancheepuram has recorded 330 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 12470, while 2699 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 18735 total cases of which 3011 are currently active and Madurai has recorded a total of 12195 cases with 870 of them being currently active. Chengalpattu alone has recorded 388 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 362 new cases and Ranipet has recorded 333 new cases!
There have been 118 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 5159. The number of deaths per day has now crossed 100 for well over a week and doesn't seem to be going down! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 111,054 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 52,810 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 11,130! The number of recoveries has been very good over the last few days and again, today's recoveries still remain higher than the number of new infections, though just marginally! There have been 6005 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 250,680. There have been 67,492 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 3,360,450 tests, which continues to remain the highest for any state in our country!
