The 2014 'Thala' Ajith film, Veeram, directed by Siva under the reputed Vijaya Productions banner went on to become a box office blockbuster and ushered in a highly successful partnership between the superstar and the hit director. Veeram also featured several notable names in its supporting cast among whom actor Bala played the role of Ajith's younger brother, Murugan, and was last seen in the Karthi-Jyothika starrer, Thambi.

In the meantime, Bala had taken to his Facebook page to speak about his upcoming projects which include two biggies in 2020 - 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Annaatthe and National Award-winning Malayalam actor Mammootty's Bilal. In the video, Bala also spoke for the first time about a phone call with a leading producer's wife and has issued a clarification regarding the controversy that been built around it.

Taking to his Facebook page, Bala stated that the phone conversation that is doing the rounds now on social media was made a year back. In his statement, Bala adds, "As many will be aware about my divorce case, I had to record a few phone calls for security reasons. The conversation that is out on social media was made almost a year back and the recording is being circulated all for the wrong reasons. I don't know how the call conversation had leaked, but I know for sure those behind such activities are all out there making efforts to defame me. As of now, I do not intend to take any action on anybody as others will also be affected and I don't want that. All I wish is for a happy life for myself and those who are out there,".

Bala had gotten married to singer Amrutha Suresh in 2010 after dating for a while and were blessed with a daughter, Avanthika, in 2012. However, the couple had gotten divorced in December 2019 and the leaked phone call was in regard to their splitting up including other personal matters of the actor.
