With the outbreak of the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic, the Indian Government created the Aarogya Setu mobile App for our citizens to track the latest updates as well as to check their own health. This app helps in preventing the spread of this Virus by providing all the latest authorised updates as well as the infection levels in any areas. However, earlier there were reports of Pakistani spies using similar fake apps to hack into and spy on Indian Army personnel! Now, we have another such shocking report!
A latest report from India's Cyber Security Agency states that "Phishing" in the name of the Aarogya Setu app is witnessing a "high rise"! The inquisitiveness of people and their search for information related to the COVID-19 spread, has been the main reason behind the rise of scammers using fake apps impersonating the Aarogya Setu App, World Health Organisation and other popular tools like the video conferencing tool Zoom, to target users and steal sensitive data. The Cyber Security Agency CERT-In has advised people to be very cautious while using any app and to not provide any personal data unnecessarily!
