One film that has created massive buzz among fans and the film industry trade is the upcoming Silambarasan TR-starrer Maanaadu under blockbuster filmmaker Venkat Prabhu's direction. Touted to be a mass masala political entertainer produced under Suresh Kamatchi's V House Productions and featuring music by Yuvan Shankar Raja, the film's plot will also revolve extensively around the concept of time-loop. With filming wrapped up sometime back, fans have been waiting for updates and Simbu has not disappointed them as the multi-talented actor took to social media on Saturday to drop an announcement on the Maanaadu release date.

STR surprised fans by announcing that Maanaadu will be hitting screens as a grand Diwali release. Although the release date has not been mentioned, this latest update has come as a massive joyous news for fans, who have been waiting to witness the flamboyant star in Maanaadu, which was initially announced in mid-2018 before being officially launched in early 2020. Expectations for Maanaadu are massive, especially after Venkat Prabhu shared interesting details during a Twitter spaces chat session where the filmmaker informed fans that the film will be a step away from the usual sensibilities of Tamil cinema and will come as a fresh form of story-telling.

Incidentally, Maanaadu is Silambarasan and Venkat Prabhu's first full-length collaboration after the actor appeared in a cameo in the director's 2010 hit film, Goa. Simbu will be playing the role of a Muslim for the first time in his career in the film, with his character's name revealed to be Abdul Khaaliq. Apart from STR, Maanaadu's multi-star cast also includes Kalyani Priyadarshan as the female lead, followed by SJ Suryah, Karunakaran, Premgi Amaren, Manoj Bharathiraja, Daniel Annie Pope, Y. Gee. Mahendra and veteran directors SA Chandrasekhar and Bharathiraja in pivotal roles.
