Popular Malayalam actor, Mela Raghu breathed his last on Tuesday, May 4 at Kochi. He was hospitalized in a private hospital in Kochi after he collapsed at his residence on April 16. He was in critical condition for the last few days. After failing to respond to the medical treatments, the Doctors declared Mela Raghu to be dead in the morning hours of May 4. He was 60 years old. The news has upset the Malayalam cinema fans. Leading actors including Mohanlal, Mammootty, Prithviraj Sukumaran, and others have mourned the unfortunate death of Mela Raghu on social media.

Actor Prithviraj shared a picture of Mela Raghu and wrote, "Rest in peace. #Mela Raghu Chetan". The fans are also sharing their condolence messages on their micro blogging pages. Mela Raghu is known for acting as the protagonist in the Malayalam film, Mela, and the success of the film made him add the title to this name. Mela was directed by KG George and it featured Raghu, Anjali Naidu in the lead roles. Mammootty played an important role in the film.

Mela is a film that is noted for having the shortest actor as a protagonist. Mela Raghu acted in over 30 films in both Malayalam and Tamil. He featured in a supporting character in Kamal Haasan's Apoorva Sagodharargal, directed by Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. Mela Raghu was last seen in Mohanlal's Drishyam 2 which released recently on Amazon Prime Video.
