The nominations for the 92nd Academy Awards ceremony taking place today (February 9) at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California, were revealed on January 13. The 92nd Academy Awards is being presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) and is an event that is celebrated worldwide honoring the artistes for their work in films that had come out last year.

There were five nominees nominated for the Best Director Award at the 92nd Academy Awards among whom were Martin Scorsese for The Irishman, Todd Phillips for Joker, Sam Mendes for 1917, Quentin Tarantino for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Bong Joon-ho for Parasite. With the nominees for Oscars 2020 revealed, it has now been announced that director Bong Joon-ho has won the Oscar Award for Best Director Award for his film, Parasite.

Bong Joon-ho's Parasite is a black comedy thriller film and stars Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Choi Woo-shik, and Park So-dam with Han Jin-won serving as a co-screenwriter. The South Korean film follows family members from a poor and downtrodden household, who infiltrate a rich and upper class family's house, by posing as unrelated and highly-qualified individuals.
