For the last few days, there has been a controversy surrounding the 'Pandarathi Puranam' song from Dhanush's Karnan. A welfare petition was filed against the song and a notice was sent to Dhanush and the film's director, Mari Selvaraj, regarding the same. The news created a buzz on social media. It was claimed that the title of the song, 'Pandarathi Puranam', and the lines hurt a certain section of the community in the state. The petitioner also demanded the song be removed. Reacting to the controversy, the makers have now decided to change the name of the song. The song's title has been changed from 'Pandarathi Puranam' to 'Manjanathi Puranam' and the word 'Pandarathi' will be replaced by 'Manjanathi' in the lyric as well.

The film's director Mari Selvaraj shared a heartfelt statement informing about the change in the lyrics and the title of the song. He also mentioned that the changed version of the song will reflect on YouTube in a day or two. When we see the film in the theatres, we will only listen to the revised version, 'Manjanathi Puranam'. The song is composed by Santhosh Narayanan and crooned by legendary music director and singer Deva. This new change has given a mixed feeling for the fans, but it looks like the team of Karnan wants to have a smoother release. Karnan is scheduled to release in theatres on April 9 and it has got huge expectations among the fans and film buffs.
