Filmmakers across the country are breaking boundaries with each passing day and the upcoming Tamil-Hindi bilingual biopic, Thalaivi, based on the life of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, had been announced a few days back for a worldwide release on April 23. Directed by blockbuster Tamil director A. L. Vijay, with National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut portraying the late stateswoman, expectations for Thalaivi have been massive right from the moment the project kicked off, with the upcoming film set to showcase the life journey of Jayalalithaa from cinema to politics, including MGR and several other notable political leaders in Tamil Nadu.

Produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh under the Vibri Media banner, Kangana, who underwent a radical physical transformation for her role in Thalaivi , on Tuesday, shared words of praise for the film's director A. L. Vijay. Kangana wrote, "Dear Vijay sir, as first half dubbing of #Thalaivi is over, only second half is left, this journey together is coming to an end, I never feel a sinking feeling that I feel as I think about it, I have identified this feeling as missing you factor I have a confession to make (cont)". She continued, "First thing I noticed about you was you say no to tea,coffee,wine,non veg,parties impossible to get close to you, then slowly I realised you are never far,you are not only amazingly competent your eyes shine brighter when I excel as an artist, through so many ups and downs (cont)". The Queen actress concluded her note saying, "I never saw a hint of anger, insecurity or despair in you,spoke to people who know you for decades and when they speak about you their eyes light up, you are not a human you are a devta,I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and know that I miss you. Apart from Kangana Ranaut, Thalaivi has Arvind Swami playing legendary actor and late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MG Ramachandran, popularly known among the masses and the classes as MGR. There has been a huge buzz among fans and those in the trade on the prospects of the upcoming Jayalalithaa biopic in terms of the performance Kangana will be delivering, including the technical aspects and the film's impact at the box office. Thalaivi also has several other notable names like Prakash Raj, Jisshu Sengupta, Poorna, Madhoo, Bhagyashree in pivotal roles, with music composed by GV Prakash, while legendary writer KV Vijayendra Prasad has penned the film's screenplay.
