One of the most outspoken and vocal actors of Tamil Nadu - Kamal Haasan has also turned a politician by floating his own party - Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM). He has been very open about questioning the methods and actions of the State as well as the Central Governments, when he has felt that they could have been better. Earlier, he had penned an open letter to the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 23rd and in that, he had asked for the PMO to take into consideration the daily wage workers and people from the low income strata into consideration and create ways of helping them during this unprecedented time of crisis, caused due to the COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic. Now, he has penned a second, albeit angry, open letter to the Prime Minister, raising a number of concerns!

Kamal Haasan has questioned the efforts of the Government to provide relief to the people of the lower income group and daily wage workers, who have lost their livelihoods because of the nation-wide shutdown initiated by the Central Government. He has termed all measures taken by the Govt. to have been made keeping in mind the upper and middle class people in mind and with no concern for the lower class. Kamal Haasan has questioned the delay in the Government's action towards controlling the spread of the Corona Virus and the lack of preparation or thought given to the common man, before announcing the lockdown. He has also termed that this lockdown is turning out to be a disaster along the lines of the demonetization efforts, earlier undertaken by the same government and has asked the Prime Minister to immediately address the concerns of the daily wage workers, street-cart vendors, house-helps, auto & taxi drivers, migrant workers and other such helpless people. Kamal has stated that a long-term vision is needed and warned that if things like Hunger (H), Exhaustion (E) & Depression (D) are not dealth with properly now, the HED'20 would turn out to become more disastrous than the COVID-19!
