The whole world is battling the destructive COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus Pandemic that is sweeping through all countries, leaving death and sickness in its wake. The Indian Government initially announced a Janata Curfew on March 22nd, followed by a 21-day lockdown of the entire nation. In his latest address to the citizens of India, our Prime Minister Narendra Modi has requested everybody to express solidarity and unity in fighting the Corona Virus. He has asked us to switch off all the electric lights in our houses, at 9:00 pm today (April 5th), for 9 minutes! Modi has asked us to light lamps, diyas, candles or use torchlights & mobile flashlights to light up our houses during these 9 minutes, as a community activity to show unity!
Though this initiative has met with sarcasm and resistance from a few quarters, many top celebrities across the nation have been expressing their solidarity with the Prime Minister and have urged their followers to participate in it. The latest celebrity to do so, is Jiiva! The Gypsy actor has taken to his Twitter handle to release a video, expressing his solidarity with the PM's initiative! He has requested that, just like all of us participated in the Janata Curfew and in felicitating the doctors and healthcare workers from our terraces & balconies, we should actively participate in this latest initiative by the Prime Minister, too! This video has received both positive comments as well as negative criticism from Jiiva's followers!
