Producer K Rajan is known in the industry for his strong and bold statements on Kollywood happenings and the stars. He has now given an exclusive interview to Galatta and spoken about a lot of things, including the financial transaction details that went into the making of Superstar Rajinikanth's Darbar. Talking about Rajni's salary for this movie, he says, "Only the people who gave and received would know the actual truth. I also read reports that he had received Rs. 100 Crores as salary plus Rs. 8 Crores for tax." He added that he feels Tamil Cinema is not strong enough yet to pay any actor Rs. 100 Crores as salary.

Talking further, Rajan says, "This is the first time in the history of Tamil Cinema that an actor has been paid 100 Crores for a single movie. Also, this is the first time that a movie is facing such a huge loss! The director has received Rs. 35 Crores as salary. These are atrocious numbers and I got them from trustworthy sources, irrespective of what some sections of the media might have reported. Nayanthara must have gotten about Rs. 10 Crores or as reported in the media, Rs. 5.5 Crores. Besides, this movie also had some other leading stars as part of the cast. That way, the budget towards the salaries of stars itself must have been around Rs. 160 Crores. Taking into consideration the salaries of technicians also, the overall budget towards the salaries alone, would have been around Rs. 180 to 190 Crores."

Giving further details, he says," Take into account, the shooting costs, which would have amounted to Rs. 30 lakhs per day, making it around Rs. 300 Crores for 100 days of shoot. At the end of this all, what profit could the producer have gained? It is an absolute lie that Lyca Productions are claiming to have gotten profits from Darbar. They are lying to get further dates from the heroes." There were many more strong statements given out by K Rajan in the interview.
