Dr. Beela Rajesh, the Secretary of Tamil Nadu Health and Family Welfare addressed the media on Tuesday regarding the coronavirus pandemic in various parts of the state. She went on to say that 31 new COVID-19 cases have been recorded across Tamil Nadu with the count for the total number of affected rising from 1,173 to 1,204 over the course of the past 24 hours. Dr Beela added that 23 people have been discharged in the past 24 hours taking the total recovered cases from 58 to 81. Furthermore, one person has died due to the effects of the virus taking the state's death toll to 12 people in total.
The press meet continued with Dr Beela Rajesh explaining that 28,711 people have been placed under home quarantine with their health condition constantly being monitored by health authorities while 135 positive COVID-19 cases are in isolation. She then added saying two more children below the age of 10 have tested positive for the coronavirus taking the total tally to 33 from 31 on Monday. Dr. Beela pointed out that the 31 fresh cases on Tuesday is the lowest in over two weeks since March 31 as the previous low was on April 8 when 48 people tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and is strikingly lesser than Monday's count, which was 98 persons showing the symptoms of the disease.
