Frances Lee Strong who is fondly called by her stage name Grandma Lee died at 85 six months after falling and breaking her hip. Grandma Lee was a popular stand-up comedian who rose to fame after featuring on the 4th edition of the television series America's Got Talent in 2009. She began performing when she was in her 60s and became known for her off-colour humour. She advanced to the final round, she was one among the 10 contestants. Most of her sense of humour was from her own life, she doesn’t use cuss words but has her own distinctive data-style to entertain people.
Grandma Lee was born in Oklahoma City in 1934, she had four children. They were living in Homestead, Florida, in 1992 when Hurricane Andrew destroyed their home. They moved to Jacksonville where, in 1995, her husband died of cancer. They had been married for 37 years. Strong began doing stand-up comedy in 1997, performing at open mic nights at The Comedy Zone in Jacksonville. During her last days, she was living at an assisted living facility in Jacksonville.
