Leading Tamil actor Karthi will be seen next in the tentatively titled Karthi 26 being directed by Nalan Kumarasamy of Soodhu Kavvum (2013) and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum (2016) fame under producer-distributor K. E. Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green banner. The upcoming film's shooting has been progressing at a steady pace for a while now and the team celebrated the filmmaker's birthday on the sets back in October, with the pictures going viral on social media. With a chunk of filming on Karthi 26 already wrapped, Gnanavel Raja sat down with Galatta and shared the release plans of the film's title and first look.
Speaking about Karthi 26, producer K. E. Gnanavel Raja said, "The work on the film is in progress and the title along with the first look poster will be announced in the third or fourth week of December. Almost 50 percent of the shooting has already been completed and the film is shaping up really well." Production on Karthi 26 has been moving quietly without much noise, with youth sensation Krithi Shetty revealed to be playing the female lead, while reports state that veteran actors Sathyaraj and Rajkiran will be seen in pivotal roles.
Karthi 26 is Nalan Kumarasamy's second time associating with K. E. Gnanavel Raja's Studio Green after their Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum starring 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi and Madonna Sebastian, which has since its release garnered a cult status. Likewise, Karthi is headlining a project under the producer's banner after a gap of almost eight years since their Komban (2015), while their previous collaborations include Paruthiveeran (2007), Naan Mahaan Alla (2010), Siruthai (2011), Alex Pandian (2013), All in All Azhagu Raja (2013), Biriyani (2013), and Madras (2014). Apart from Karthi 26, Karthi will be reuniting with directors PS Mithran and Lokesh Kanagaraj for Sardar 2 and Kaithi 2, respectively, while also teaming up with filmmaker Prem Kumar of 96 (2018) fame for the first time for the tentatively titled Karthi 27.
