The veteran serial actress Vijayalakshmi, known for her role in the hit Television Soap opera, passed away due to health issues. News reports have stated that the actress was admitted to a private hospital in Chennai and has been getting treatment and later returned home. The actress then breathed her last breath yesterday. Some reports have also said she got hit in her head recently which is why she was getting treatment but died in her sleep. Some others stated she had Kidney related issues. This news has come as a shock to those in the Tamil Cinema industry and she was 70 years old.
The actress acted in the serial titled Bharathi Kannamma season 1 which become a huge hit among viewers. Vijayalakshmi played the role of the grandmother of the female lead character 'Kannamma' in the serial. She also played a role in the serial Saravanan Meenatchi. In the 1980s, the actress Vijayalakshmi played small supporting roles in films that featured key actors Rajini and Kamal. She also played an important on the film Oru Oodhappu Kan Simittygirathu which also featured Kamal Haasan and Sujatha. She has acted in over 10 films that were released on the big screen. It said that the senior actress then began concentrating on doing character roles in television serials.
Many fans have grieved the death of the senior actress Vijayalakshmi and some actors have also shared their condolences for the actress. Veena Venkatesh who has also starred in many Television serials shared a photo of herself with the actress and said "Miss u princess, I used to call Vijayalakshmi ma like that....she was a darling to all...her daughter Kiran took care of her like a mother.... sorry for your loss dear...we all are there for you. may her soul rest in peace".
