The much-awaited Vanangaan first look has arrived and is intriguing on all fronts. Being directed by National Award-winning Tamil filmmaker Bala and starring Arun Vijay in the lead role, the poster shows the popular actor holding a statue of eminent social activist and politician Periyar in one hand and one of Lord Vinayaka in another. We see Arun Vijay covered in sludge from head to toe and looking above him, with a brick wall to his back raising quite a lot of curiosity as to what director Bala's Vanangaan is going to be about.
There is a lot of buzz surrounding Vanangaan as the film is Bala's next big directorial after Varmaa (2022). Initially announced with National Award-winning actor Suriya in the lead role, the Soorarai Pottru star opted out of the upcoming film last December. Vanangaan marks the first time Bala and Arun Vijay are collaborating on a project and the first-look poster has raised plenty of interest among Tamil cinema fans once again. Expressing his joy about being a part of the film, Arun Vijay posted on X, "Privileged to be wielded by the master craftsman, Director @IyakkunarBala sir himself, here it is!!🤩 Excited and humbled to share the first look of #Vanangaan with you all" (sic).

Vanangaan has Arun Vijay sharing the screen with actress Roshini Prakash, who previously starred as the female lead in Pariyerum Perumal fame Kathir's Jada (2019). The film also has Samuthirakani and Mysskin making appearances in key roles, while National Award winner G. V. Prakash Kumar is composing the songs and the background score, with 'Kaviperarasu' Vairamuthu penning the lyrics. Cinematographer R. B. Gurudev, editor Sathish Suriya, art director Naguraj RK, and stunt choreographer Silva form the core technical team of the film. The Vanangaan first look only offers a glimpse at Arun Vijay in the film as of now and details on the theatrical release date are expected to be announced once the principal photography comes to a wrap.
