TN Government to provide cash assistance of Rs. 2000 to all hairdressers!
India will be moving into the fourth phase of the nation-wide lockdown from tomorrow (May 18th), till May 31st! The Tamil Nadu government had earlier today, announced the extension of the lockdown in the state, till May 31st and had stated that the lockdown rules would remain the same in 12 districts, including Chennai but had relaxed a few restrictions in the remaining 25 districts in the state! Though most businesses including wine shops have been allowed to reopen, shopping malls, theatres, eating in restaurants, bars, pubs, spas, saloons and beauty parlours have not been given permission to reopen and they will continue to remain closed. This is because, the probability for spread is higher in these locations.
The TN Govenment had earlier announced a cash assitance for hairdressers, as they do not have any source of livelihood and this was being given out to all those who were members of a State Board for their welfare. However, a number of hairdressers who are not members of any such board had placed a plea requesting that they also be provided assistance and now the Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanisamy has ordered that all hairdressers should be provided with the cash assistance of Rs. 2000, irrespective of whether they are a member of any board or not! The government has been disbursing the assistance in two installments to 14,667 members of the State Welfare Board for hairdressers and now those who are not members of this board shall also be eligible to receive it. Stay tuned for further updates...
