It is that time of the day when the official number of the COVID-19 cases are released and May 21st has again come out with very high numbers. The numbers are very alarming, especially in Chennai. The official numbers of #COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus cases in Tamil Nadu are out and we have it for you. The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 776 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 13,967! Of these, 567 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 8,795, with Tiruvallur having 42 cases, Chengalpattu registering 34 new cases and Kancheepuram recording 13!

There have been 7 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 94. As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 8,795 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 7,588 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone, stands at 5,681! The number of recoveries has been high but lesser than yesterday, with 400 new recoveries and discharges and the total number of recovered people is now at 6,282. There have been 12,464 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 372,532! As of today, 17 states in India have registered over 1000 COVID-19 cases.
