It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5697 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 514,208! Of these, 989 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 150,572! Kancheepuram has recorded 198 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 19,768, while 1,310 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 31,067 total cases of which 2,119 are currently active and Thiruvallur has recorded a total of 28,903 cases with 2,053 of them being currently active. Coimbatore alone has recorded 485 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Chengalpattu registered 324 new cases and Salem has recorded 292 new cases!
There have been 68 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 8502. As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 150,572 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 46,806 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 9,883! There have been 5,735 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 458,900. There have been 80,623 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 6,048,832 tests, which is still the highest for any state in our country!
