July 07 - TN COVID Update: 3616 New Cases | 65 New Deaths | Total - 118,594 Cases & 1636 Deaths

It is that time of the day when the official number of the COVID-19 cases are released and the situation seems to be mildly stabilising in Chennai with the numbers falling below 1.5 k for the first time in a number of days and the overall state's numbers are continuing to be below 4k for the second day running! The official numbers of COVID-19 Novel Corona Virus cases in Tamil Nadu are out and we have it for you. The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 3616 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 118,594! Of these, 1203 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 71,220! Madurai has recorded 334 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 4674, while 3486 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 6942 total cases of which 2851 are currently active and Tiruvallur has recorded a total of 5205 cases with 1744 of them being currently active.
There have been 65 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 1636. As of now, Chennai is the biggest hotspot in the state and has 71,220 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 45,839 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 22,374! The number of recoveries has returned the best ever for a single day by crossing over 4500! There have been 4545 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 71,116. There have been 36,938 samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 1,413,435 tests, which is the highest for any state in the country! While inaugurating the new COVID facility at King's College in Chennai Guindy, the TN Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has stated that there are no plans for another lockdown in the state.
