It is that time of the day when the official numbers of the COVID-19 cases are released and here we bring it for you along with a comprehensive round-up of all the details! Today, the numbers are continuing to fall in the state but the death rate has been increasing and has crossed 100 for the second consecutive day! The last 24 hours show that Tamil Nadu has had 5063 new cases of COVID positive being reported, taking the overall total to 268,285! Of these, 1023 new cases have been identified in Chennai alone, taking the district's total to 104,027! Kancheepuram has recorded 220 new cases and the district has now registered a total of 10303, while 2859 of them are currently active! Chengalpattu has recorded 15917 total cases of which 2583 are currently active and Madurai has recorded a total of 11487 cases with 2242 of them being currently active. Virudhunagar alone has recorded 424 new cases in the last 24 hours, while Thiruvallur registered 358 new cases and Theni has recorded 292 new cases!
There have been 108 new COVID related deaths in Tamil Nadu in the past 24 hours, taking the total to 4349. The number of deaths per day has now crossed 100 for the second consecutive day! As of now, Chennai is the district with the most number of COVID cases recorded so far, in the state and has 104,027 cases registered. The total number of active cases in entire Tamil Nadu, stands at 55,152 while the number of active cases in Chennai alone stands at 11,856! The number of recoveries has been very good over the last few days and again, today's recoveries are significantly higher than the number of new infections! There have been 6501 new recoveries and discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of recovered people to 208,784. There have been 55,122 new samples tested, in the past 24 hours alone, taking the total tests to 2,892,395 tests, which continues to remain the highest for any state in our country!
