Leading Tamil actress Trisha is celebrating her birthday today and wishes are pouring in for the darling of Tamil cinema from the film fraternity and fans on social media. Having portrayed 'Ilaiya Piratti' Kundavai in Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan films, she is on cloud nine for her power-packed performance alongside 'Chiyaan' Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan among others. With the success of the PS films, Trisha has once again proven to everyone why she is one of the most important names in Tamil cinema history, and will next be seen in a few big high-profile projects.
On the occasion of Trisha's 40th birthday today, we look at her six big upcoming projects that have gotten fans mighty excited after the staggering response to her role in Ponniyin Selvan:
LEO
Trisha will be reuniting with 'Thalapathy' Vijay for the first time once again after 15 years in Leo being directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Announced to come out ahead of the Ayudha pooja holidays on October 19, the film billed to be a gangster action thriller is the actress' fifth-time collaborating with the Tamil superstar after Ghilli (2004), Thirupaachi (2005), Aathi (2006), and Kuruvi (2008). Leo is also the 67th film for both Trisha and Vijay, and is incidentally a unique coincidence.
RAM: PART 1
Trisha's next in Malayalam will see her sharing screen space with iconic actor Mohanlal in Ram: Part 1 being directed by Jeethu Joseph of Drishyam fame. Touted to be an action thriller, the film began rolling in early 2020 and also stars Indrajith Sukumaran, and Vaathi fame Samyuktha in major roles, and will see Trisha reportedly playing the role of a doctor. Initially announced to be made as only one film, the project has since gotten bigger and will be coming out in two installments. No release date has yet been announced for either Ram: Part 1 and Ram: Part 2.
THE ROAD
Announced in early 2022, The Road is a revenge action drama and will Trisha her appearing alongside Cooku with Comali sensation Santhosh Prathap and Sarpatta Parambarai 'Dancing Rose' fame Shabeer under debutant Arun Vaseegaran's direction. The film's production had been moving quietly and the team had surprised everyone last year by releasing an intriguing and action-packed motion poster showing Trisha holding a gun and firing shots. No release date has been announced yet for The Road and fans will no doubt be looking to witness her on the big screen come up with a powerful performance once again after Ponniyin Selvan.
BRINDA (WEB SERIES)
Several leading names have entered the digital space and so will Trisha when she makes her debut in Telugu for the web series Brinda. Announced to be coming out on streaming on SonyLIV, the actress will be seen playing the role of a police officer for the first time in her glorious career and once again proves that she is putting herself to new challenges by taking up interesting roles. No premiere date has been announced yet for Brinda.
SATHURANGA VETTAI 2
Upon its announcement, Sathuranga Vettai 2 starring Trisha and Arvind Swami in the lead roles got everyone instantly excited. However, it has been quite a long delay for the film directed by NV Nirmal Kumar of Salim fame to come out as it has been stuck in financial issues and with producer Manobala no more, it remains to be seen what its outcome is going to be. Although billed to be a sequel to the 2014 heist film, Sathuranga Vettai, starring Natty in the lead role, the yet-to-be-released film is reportedly said to include elements of a con film, but with a completely new and fresh story.
GARJANAI
Similar to Sathuranga Vettai 2, Trisha's Garjanai was set to come out for a big screen release after an intriguing and action-packed trailer was released in 2019. Said to be a remake of Anushka Sharma's smash hit 2015 film, NH 10, the Tamil version is also a road movie along the lines of the Hindi version, and it now remains to be seen when it will see the light of the day.
