Ponniyin Selvan: 1 was one of the blockbuster hit films of last year that saw massive numbers at the box office and the second part of the film Ponniyin Selvan: 2 is set to release on April 28. The films are directed by Mani Ratnam and is produced by Lyca production and Madras Talkies. It is mounted on a huge budget and is based on the book series written by Kalki which has a huge fan base. The historical drama film is set around the Chola kings and has a huge star cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Prabhu, R Sarath Kumar, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and Radhakrishnan Parthiban.

The makers of Ponniyin Selvan: 2 have been launching teasers to increase anticipation of the films. The first single from the film Aga Naga composed by AR Rahman was also released. The makers have been launching various teasers ahead of the grand audio and trailer launch event for Ponniyin Selvan: 2 that is set to happen in Nehru Indoor Stadium on March 29th. 2 days ago the makers released a teaser video showing Vikram as Aditha Karikalan entering a fort on his horse amidst flower showers.

Today, Lyca productions have released an exciting video of the making of the trailer. It begins with the technicians creating a new editing file for the trailer titled PS 2 Trailer and shows Mani Ratnam and the editor of the film Sreekar Prasad working on editing the trailer. It also features a few shots of AR Rahman working on music and a whole bunch of technicians working on the VFX of the film, including shots of a ship. It also shows a glimpse of the actors including Vikram, Jayaram, and Karthi, coming in and dubbing their dialogues for the trailer. It then ends with the editors exporting the file and Jayaram saying “Ponniyin Selvan second part”.
