Mission: Impossible 8's production has started and is going into full swing. Meanwhile, reports have stated that the film's director Christopher McQuarrie along with the star Tom Cruise has been shooting flight scenes for the movie on a U.S. aircraft carrier in the Adriatic Sea. Parente pointed out that the USS George H.W. Bush is most likely the participating aircraft carrier. The US naval ship was near the Italian coast when Cruise boarded it, but it is currently "somewhere between Italy and Croatia," he said. The head of the Apulia Film Commission, Antonio Parente revealed that Tom Cruise arrived in Bari, the capital of the Apulia region, on the 25th of February. According to his statement, Tom Cruise spent a night at Bari’s Hotel Delle Nazioni. He then left the city in a private helicopter and went to a U.S. Aircraft carrier and shot the scenes for the movie Mission: Impossible 8.
According to the reports, Tom Cruise is believed to have left Italy as the shoot was planned to be wrapped by last weekend. Antonio Parente expressed his feelings on the incident, “We are proud that Apulia has been chosen as the operational base for this rather complex shoot.” He further revealed that the Apulia film commission has only helped Paramount Italia with airport logistics even though they were ready to help furthermore.
Tom Cruise makes his 8th appearance as the fictional character Ethan Hunt in the upcoming Mission: Impossible 8 and it is said that this will be his final appearance as there is speculation of the movie to be the Grand Finale for the spy thriller series. Along with Tom Cruise, the other actors from the series' previous films such as Ving Rhames, Henry Czerny, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Hayley Atwell, Shea Whigham, and Pom Klementieff return to reprise their respective roles. Esai Morales reprises his role as the antagonist from the seventh film. Paramount Pictures plans to release the film on June 28, 2024.
