'Thalapathy' Vijay paid his last respects to late Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar, on Saturday in Bengaluru, Karnataka. Photos and videos of the Tamil star visiting the Kannada actor's memorial are now doing the rounds on social media and show him offering his prayers and condolences at Kanteerava Studios in Bengaluru. Visuals also show Vijay interacting with a few persons who are believed to be associated with the Kannada actor and his family.

Puneeth had passed away on October 29 last year, with his sudden demise leaving fans and many leading personalities in the state in a state of grief. He was 46. The Karnataka government had cremated the Kannada star with full state honors on October 31, with leading celebrities and personalities from various walks of life paying their respects at his memorial. Puneeth is survived by his wife, Ashwini Revanth, and two daughters, Drithi and Vandhitha.

In the meantime, Puneeth Rajkumar's last film before his death, James, is set to open in theatres on March 25. As a mark of respect and honoring the late Kannada actor, the entire South Indian industry has arrived at a decision to not release any other films between March 17 and 25, with James announced to be coming out as a solo release in Karnataka. The upcoming film's teaser released sometime back received a huge response and fans have also expressed their joy at witnessing the Kannada superstar once again. Puneeth's brother and actor Shivarajkumar have done the dubbing for the late actor in James, which also includes Priya Anand as the female lead. Puneeth's elder brothers Raghavendra Rajkumar and Shivarajkumar too will be making appearances in cameo roles in the film directed by Chethan Kumar.
