'Superstar' Rajinikanth shared his joy at receiving the Golden Ticket for World Cup 2023 from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah on Wednesday, September 20. The iconic Tamil actor took to social media to express his gratitude to the governing body of cricket in India, while also conveying his happiness at meeting Jay Shah thanking him for his kind words and thoughts. Rajinikanth posted on X, "I am extremely happy to receive the prestigious Golden Ticket from BCCI for @ICC @CricketWorldCup 2023. My heartfelt thanks to BCCI.. Dear Jayshahji… it was a pleasure to meet you..Thank you very much for your warm words and thoughts. @BCCI @JayShah  #GoldenTicket" (sic)

The BCCI presented Rajinikanth with the Golden Ticket for the 2023 World Cup yesterday and posted a picture of the actor with Jay Shah writing, "The Phenomenon Beyond Cinema! 🎬 The BCCI Honorary Secretary @JayShah presented the golden ticket to Shri @rajinikanth, the true embodiment of charisma and cinematic brilliance. The legendary actor has left an indelible mark on the hearts of millions, transcending language and culture. We are thrilled to announce that Thalaiva will grace the @ICC @cricketworldcup 2023 as our distinguished guest and will light up the biggest cricketing spectacle with his presence. 🌟 #GoldenTicket." (sic) Rajinikanth, who has often shared his passion for sports, was seen at the 2011 Cricket World Cup Final, which saw the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Indian team lift the championship trophy. 

On the work front, Rajinikanth's Jailer directed by Nelson Dilipkumar hit the bullseye grossing over 500 crores in global box office collections. The Tamil actor's next big film is the cricket-based film, Lal Salaam, under his daughter Aishwarya Rajinikanth's direction, which has him appearing in an extended cameo as a character named Moideen bhai. Rajinikanth is also set to start filming the tentatively titled Thalaivar 170 to be directed by Jai Bhim fame T. J. Gnanavel, which will feature songs and a background score by 'Rockstar' Anirudh Ravichander. Likewise, the veteran actor was also recently announced to be teaming up with blockbuster Tamil filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj for Thalaivar 171, which will also include music composed by Anirudh.
