In a startling incident, around 10 sovereigns of gold were stolen from leading Tamil comedy actor Soori’s house in Madurai recently when he conducted the wedding of his niece, which also saw ‘Makkal Selvan’ Vijay Sethupathi and Sivakarthikeyan grace the happy occasion. According to reports, it is being stated that gold worth around rupees two lakhs was found to be missing from the bride’s room at the wedding ceremony last week. Soori’s family has filed a complaint at the Keerathurai police station in Madurai, with a probe now being launched.

On the work front, Soori will next be seen in the highly-anticipated ‘Superstar’ Rajinikanth-starrer Annaatthe, which has been announced for a grand Diwali theatrical release on November 4. The upcoming rural mass masala action family drama directed by Sun Pictures under Siva’s direction will see Soori sharing screen space alongside Rajinikanth for the first time, with the film also featuring names like Khushbu, Meena, Nayanthara, Keerthy Suresh, Prakash Raj and music composed by D. Imman. Soori also has in his lineup films like Sivakarthikeyan’s college entertainer Don being directed by debutant Cibi Chakravarthy under the joint collaboration of Lyca Productions and SK Productions banners, followed by the Suriya-produced Jyotika-Sasikumar-starrer Udanpirappe, including a big role in Bigg Boss Tamil fame Mugen Rao's Velan

Apart from his stint as a supporting actor in the above-mentioned films, Soori’s biggest role to date will be the upcoming Vetri Maaran-directed Viduthalai, which is based on a short story titled Thunaivan written by Jeyamohan. The popular comedian will be making his debut as a hero in Viduthalai, which is touted to be a crime thriller and is being produced by Elred Kumar’s RS Infotainment banner.
