Leading Tamil actor-producer Sivakarthikeyan, who will next be seen on the big screen in the upcoming Doctor hitting screens on October 9, recently took part in the launch of popular cartoonist Mathi’s website in Coimbatore. SK, as he is lovingly called by fans, had interacted with media persons at the event and spoke on various topics among which included the importance of water conservation, the release of films in theatres and the OTT streaming space and, the title of Naai Sekar being chosen for his friend and comedian Sathish’s hero debut.

When queried about Sathish bagging the Naai Sekar title, which was a character played by iconic Tamil comedy superstar Vadivelu in the smash hit 2006 film, Thalai Nagaram, Sivakarthikeyan said that the makers of the upcoming film had completed the shooting sometime back. He further added that the title holds importance as the film’s plot is based on it, while also informing that the team personally spoke with ‘Vaigai Puyal’ Vadivelu regarding it. Sivakarthikeyan went on to say that Vadivelu is a legend and fans will instantly throng to see him no matter which title is chosen for his films.

Naai Sekar starring Sathish as the hero will see the comedian paired opposite Cooku with Comali season 2 sensation Pavithra Lakshmi as the female lead and has been produced by AGS Productions, the banner behind the 2019 ‘Thalapathy’ Vijay blockbuster Bigil. Debutant Kishore Rajkumar has directed Naai Sekar, which includes music by Super Singer sensation Ajesh Ashok, with ‘Rockstar’ Anirudh Ravichander also composing a single track, which will be released soon.

Sivakarthikeyan, who awaits his Doctor opposite Priyanka Arul Mohan under Nelson Dilipkumar’s direction, is currently filming his Don with newcomer Cibi Chakravarthy and is a joint collaboration of the actor’s SK Productions and Lyca Productions banners. Sivakarthikeyan also has in the pipeline his highly-anticipated sci-fi film, Ayalaan, directed by Indru Netru Naalai fame R. Ravikumar, which features music by Academy Award-winning composer A. R.
