Director Selvaraghavan's long delayed horror thriller, Nenjam Marappathillai finally got released on March 5 and it opened to mixed responses from the critics and the fans. However, the film had a very good opening at the box office, considering its hype and huge expectations. The film features SJ Suryah in the lead role, alongside Regina Cassandra and Nandita Swetha. SJ Suryah's eccentric performance as Ramsay was one of the highlights of Nenjam Marappathillai and the audience enjoyed witnessing his crazy act on the big screen. The film is running successfully in theatres across the state and as part of the film's promotions, director Selvaraghavan has been actively participating in media interviews.

However, one of his reactions in a recent interview turned out to be controversial and the acclaimed director apologized for the same. In a recent interview about Nenjam Marappathillai, Selvaraghavan was asked if the character of Ramsay (Ramasamy) referred to Periyar and the director was seen nodding to it. He later answered with a 'Yes'. This reply from Selvaraghavan disappointed a certain section of people and it created a buzz on social media. Following the chaos, Selvaraghavan took to his official Twitter page to make his apology regarding the same. He mentioned that he did not understand the interviewer's question and apologized for his reply.

The tweet is loosely translated as, "Friends, I did not understand the question asked by the interviewer. Only after you people pointed out the reality, I understood the mistake. I should have been more careful. Apologies".

Selvaraghavan is currently busy with the shooting of Saani Kaayidham, which marks his acting debut. Selvaraghavan will be donning the role of an actor for the first time with Saani Kaayidham and he will be seen sharing screen space with Keerthy Suresh. The film is directed by Arun Matheswaran of Rocky (yet to be released) fame and has music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja. On the directorial front, Selvaraghavan's next film will be with his younger brother and actor Dhanush. The film is titled Naane Varuven and it is produced by Kalaippuli S Thanu under the banner of V Creations. Yuvan Shankar Raja and Arvind Krishna will be handling the film's music and cinematography respectively.
