Leading actress Samantha Akkineni is currently one of the most popular celebrities in South India and has two upcoming projects, which are in various stages of development. Last seen in Jaanu, the Telugu remake of the blockbuster Tamil romantic drama 96, the popular actress is now acting in the upcoming 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara-starrer Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, in Tamil under Vignesh Shivan’s direction. Samantha, who also completed filming for her mythological drama film, Shaakuntalam, last month, has now given her nod to act in a new Telugu film.

According to reports, Samantha has agreed to do a film for reputed Telugu producer Sivalenka Krishna Prasad's Sridevi Movies banner. It is being stated the Theri and Mersal actress instantly agreed to come aboard the project, a women-centric film, for which she has apparently allotted her call sheet from November. As per reports, the project will be directed by a newcomer and is being billed as a first-of-its-kind story, with an official confirmation on the venture, including its cast and crew expected to be made known soon.

Sivalenka Krishna Prasad has garnered a big reputation over the three decades he has been a part of the Telugu film industry and has produced several notable ventures during the course of his illustrious career among which include Nandamuri Balakrishna's science-fiction box office blockbuster, Aditya 369, in 1991. He later joined hands on two other occasions with Balayya for films like Bhalevadivi Basu (2001) and Mitrudu (2009), while also collaborating with Nani in Gentleman (2016) and Sudheer Babu for Sammohanam (2018).

As for Samantha's current projects in development, her Tamil film, Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal, is a rom-com being produced by Lalit Kumar's 7 Screen Studios and features music by Anirudh Ravichander, with filming progressing at a brisk pace. The film has created massive excitement as it will see Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara sharing screen space together for a film under Vignesh Shivan's direction after Naanum Rowdydhaan, with Samantha's inclusion in the cast only amplifying the expectations. As for Shaakuntalam, with production completely wrapped up and post-production works underway, we can expect announcements from the film’s team sometime soon.
