Fans of the epic science fiction film Avatar are in for a massive treat. It has been nearly 13 years since the release of the 2009 film and this news comes as a gift to those who do not remember the film and want to reacquaint themselves with the world of Pandora before The Way of Water arrives in multiplexes around Christmas.
It has been announced that the original Avatar is getting a theatrical re-release next month for a limited period of 2 weeks in 4K 3D High Dynamic Range. The film's director, James Cameron, took to his official Twitter handle to announce this information and also shared the new remastered trailer of it. He wrote, "Before our next chapter begins, experience Avatar in remastered 4K 3D HDR in theaters September 23rd for a limited time.".
The film stars Sam Worthington as a former Marine who arrives on the planet of Pandora and becomes the driver of an Avatar, a body of the alien Na’vi race piloted by his own consciousness. He then falls in love with one of the Na’vi’s leaders named Neytiri, played by Zoe Saldana.
James Cameron also posted the film’s new poster on his same Twitter handle to commemorate the remastered release of the film. Sharing the poster, he wrote, "We remastered the movie and decided it deserved a new poster....". Check it out:

The remastered Avatar will open in theatres worldwide on September 23. Apart from this, the first of the four planned sequels, Avatar: The Way of Water, is scheduled to premiere exclusively in theaters worldwide on 16 December 2022. The film will feature Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, Joel David Moore, Giovanni Ribisi, Dileep Rao, and Matt Gerald reprising their roles from the original film, while the new cast members include Kate Winslet, Vin Diesel, Cliff Curtis, Edie Falco, and CJ Jones.
The following three sequels of the film will be released on 20 December 2024, 18 December 2026, and 22 December 2028 respectively.
