The makers of the film dropped a new legacy featurette that features some BTS footage as well as the cast and crew talk about the film. Director Dan Trachtenberg says he wanted to set this film in a different time and see how people who make their own weapons deal with an enemy who has alloy and laser advantages -  going on to call it a David and Goliath story. The producer reveals the film serves as a backstory of the Predator and also deals with the indigenous survival. Amber Midthunder, who plays the lead role of Naru, says that this is version of the Predator is very raw and powerful. Given all these information, one can expect Prey to turn out great.

Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, Prey is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.

The film's title was revealed to be the codename for the fifth installment in the franchise, serving as an origin story for the main villains. Prey premiered at the 2022 San Diego Comic-Con on July 21 and has been scheduled to be released by 20th Century Studios as a Hulu original film on 5 August 2022.
