One film that has piqued the interests among fans right from the moment it was announced is the tentatively titled D43, starring Dhanush in the lead role and is being directed by Dhuruvangal Pathinaaru and Mafia director Karthick Naren under the reputed Sathya Jyothi Films banner. Planned initially to be released in theatres in October 2020, filming was delayed due to the pandemic, with the first schedule finally taking off last month in Hyderabad. Touted to be a new-age thriller, Sathya Jyothi Films on Wednesday dropped a new big announcement revealing that Master sensation Mahendran has been cast in D43

Mahendran has been the talk of the town ever since he played the younger version of 'Makkal Selvan' Vijay Sethupathi in the recently-released 'Thalapathy' Vijay blockbuster Master. Mahendran, who appeared as a younger Bhavani in the first few minutes of Master, set the wheels in motion for the film's plot to move forward and gave audiences an insight into the character's villainous motives. Mahendran has had a big association with Tamil cinema as he started off as a child artiste and starred in a number of memorable films, with his most notable childhood roles being Sarath Kumar's Nattamai, the 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan and Prabhu Deva starrer Kaathala Kaathala, 'Superstar' Rajinikanth's Padayappa, Vijay's Minsara Kanna and 'Thala' Ajith's Mugavaree. He also went on to win the Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Child Artist twice for his performances in Thaikulame Thaikulame (1995) and Kumbakonam Gopalu in (1998).

D43 will be Dhanush's third venture with Sathya Jyothi Films after Thodari and Pattas, including D42 under Ratsasan director Ramkumar as well currently in the pipeline. The upcoming film has Dhanush paired opposite Master heroine Malavika Mohanan, followed by Mookuthi Amman actress Smruthi Venkat, Samuthirakani, Soorarai Pottru fame Krishnakumar Subramanian among others in vital roles. G. V. Prakash Kumar, who was one of the big reasons for the success of Asuran, is once again composing the songs for Dhanush's D43. Popular Malayalam writer duo Sharfu-Suhas are serving as the screenwriters for the film, with lyricist Vivek coming on board for the additional screenplay and dialogues.
