In a shocking tragedy, popular Malayalam television serial and film actor Ramesh Valiyasala was found dead hanging in his bedroom's ceiling fan in Thiruvananthapuram on Saturday. He was 54. A case of unnatural death (Section 174) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered by the Thampanoor Police, with Valiyasala's body shifted to the Medical College Hospital's morgue. According to reports, the actor committed suicide as a result of financial constraints due to the COVID-19 lockdown and an investigation has been launched into his death. 

The news of Ramesh Valiyasala's death was shared by producer and production controller NM Badusha, with condolences from celebrities in the Malayalam film industry pouring in. Sharing a picture of Valiyasala on Instagram, actor Rajesh Hebbar expressed his condolences and wrote, "Though actors spend most of their lives under the spotlight.....It's a lonely journey....An uphill fight every single day....I am so sad you chose to stop fighting....Adieu good friend." Reports say Ramesh Valiyasala was living with his second wife and son at their Valiyashala residence for the past few years. The actor had returned home two days back after completing the shooting of his latest project. A notable name in the Malayalam television circuit, Valiyasala has been active in the industry for more than two decades and had come from a theatre background after completing his degree at the Government Arts College. The actor's last television appearance was on the Malayalam serial Pournamithinkal and he had been working on the film Varal directed by Kannan Thamarakulam.
