Maamannan directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mari Selvaraj has also spawned a huge social commentary on the various intricacies involved in the regional socio-political system. The film has Udhayanidhi Stalin sharing screen space with the likes of 'Vaigai Puyal' Vadivelu, Malayalam superstar Fahadh Faasil, and National Award-winning actress Keerthy Suresh along with chart-topping songs and a powerful background score composed by Academy Award winner A. R. Rahman. Audiences and critics have been showering their appreciation for the performances of the entire cast in Maamannan, with Mari Selvaraj as well receiving special praise for delivering a thought-provoking entertainer.

Produced under the Red Giant Movies banner, Maamannan is Udhayanidhi Stalin's last outing as an actor as he will be diving full-time into active politics and he could not have wished for a sign-off from cinema. Mari Selvaraj too was expected to come up with yet another high-powered film after the success of his first two directorials, Pariyerum Perumal (2018) and Karnan (2021), and the filmmaker has indeed lived up to the confidence of the masses. One other big highlight in Maamannan was Vadivelu, who played the role of Udhayanidhi Stalin's father and came up with a performance of a lifetime in a completely different role in comparison to leading the path on the comedy front throughout the course of his glorious career.
