Legendary Indian cricketer Kapil Dev has wrapped up dubbing for his portions in Aishwarya Rajinikanth's Lal Salaam, which is coming out as a grand Pongal release in January 2024. The hit Tamil filmmaker announced the big news about India's 1983 World Cup-winning captain on Thursday, November 23, while also sharing pictures from the dubbing suite and once again reaffirming the release of the 'Superstar' Rajinikanth-starrer for Pongal 2024. Sharing the photos from the dubbing studio, Aishwarya  Rajinikanth wrote on X, "THE LEGEND of Indian cricket wraps up dubbing for #lalsalaam ..what an experience it’s been! True charmer you are “CAP”🫡❤️  Post production in full throttle! #pongal2024 🙏🏼" (sic)

Lal Salaam will see Kapil Dev making a cameo appearance crucial to the film's proceedings and also share the screen with Rajinikanth. Back in May, the leading Tamil actor conveyed his joy at working with the iconic cricketer, while honoring him for his efforts in bringing home India's maiden Cricket World Cup in 1983. Rajinikanth posted, "It is my honour and privilege working with the Legendary, most respected and wonderful human being Kapildevji., who made India proud winning for the first time ever..Cricket World Cup!!!" With Lal Salaam currently in the final stages of its post-production works, the buzz for the sports action drama is getting bigger by the day; especially after the release of an intense and powerful teaser on Diwali, which garnered a double thumbs-up from fans. Although Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth will be playing the lead roles, 'Superstar' Rajinikanth is set to be seen in an extended cameo as the character Moideen bhai, with the teaser giving audiences a glimpse of the fiery action that awaits them in cinemas next year. Lal Salaam is coming out amidst massive expectations as it marks Aishwarya Rajinikanth's big comeback to mainstream cinema after her previous ventures, 3 (2012), Vai Raja Vai (2015), and the documentary Cinema Veeran (2017), with Academy Award-winning composer A. R. Rahman's songs and background also another major USP to draw fans to theatres.
