A filmmaker who created a storm in 2018, Mari Selvaraj became a sensation across Tamil Nadu and among Tamil-speaking people after his debut, Pariyerum Perumal, produced by Pa. Ranjith and starring Kathir and Kayal Anandhi in the lead roles, with memorable music by Santhosh Narayanan. Mari Selvaraj, who is all set to bring out his second film, Karnan, with Dhanush in the lead role, has another big reason to celebrate before the release of the upcoming venture as his wife Divya is now pregnant and the couple are expecting their second child.

Taking to social media, Mari Selvaraj's wife announced the happy news by sharing a photo of herself with a baby bump from her baby shower ceremony. Both Mari Selvaraj and Divya are already parents to a baby girl, with the filmmaker often sharing pictures from his happy family life. Post the announcement, wishes have been pouring in from fans on social media for the couple as Divya is now in her 36th week of pregnancy. Check out the photo below:

On the work front, Mari Selvaraj's Karnan with Dhanush has been announced to hit screens worldwide on April 9 ahead of the Tamil New Year. Produced under Kalaipuli S. Thanu's V Creations banner and featuring music by Santhosh Narayanan, promotions for the film are already underway, with the first single track 'Kandaa Vara Sollunga' receiving a staggering response. Touted to be an action drama, Karnan includes a big star cast featuring names like Malayalam actress and Kerala State Film Award winner Rajisha Vijayan playing the female lead, with veteran actors Lal and Azhagam Perumal, followed by Yogi Babu, Natty (a) Natarajan Subramanian, including 96 and Master fame Gouri G. Kishan and Lakshmi short film actress Lakshmi Priyaa Chandramouli cast in major supporting roles.

Sometime back, Mari Selvaraj had also dropped the big announcement on his third and next film after Karnan and this time with Adithya Varma and the upcoming Chiyaan 60 star Dhruv Vikram cast in the lead role. The venture will be jointly produced by Golden Ratio Films, Little Red Car Films and director Pa. Ranjith's banner Neelam Productions, which earlier bankrolled Pariyerum Perumal
