One of the biggest films currently in development is Thalaivi, the ambitious biopic on former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, with National Award-winning actress Kangana Ranaut portraying the late stateswoman. The upcoming film being made as a bilingual in Tamil and Hindi, while also getting dubbed in other languages, resumed filming in Hyderabad last month post lockdown under director A. L. Vijay. On the occasion of Jayalalithaa's fourth death anniversary today, Kangana has now posted a few new stills from Thalaivi on her social media page along with a message that director Vijay is looking to complete filming in a week's time.

Sharing the new pictures from Thalaivi, Kangana Ranaut wrote, "On the death anniversary of Jaya Amma, sharing some working stills from our film Thalaivi- the revolutionary leader. All thanks to my team, especially the leader of our team Vijay sir who is working like a super human to complete the film, just one more week to go". It is to be noted that the Dhaam Dhoom actress had last week appeared on video in her avatar as Jayalalithaa to thank all those who had supported her after the Bombay High Court issued its verdict against the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) for demolishing her office bungalow in Mumbai in September. Apart from Kangana Ranaut, Thalaivi will see Aravind Swami playing legendary actor and late Tamil Nadu CM MG Ramachandran, popularly known among the masses and the classes as MGR. Jointly being produced by Vishnu Vardhan Induri and Shailesh R Singh under the Vibri Media banner, a teaser for the film released earlier this year and went on to receive a smashing response, following which the makers unveiled a promo for Arvind Swamy as MGR. Thalaivi will also feature several other notable names such as Prakash Raj, Jisshu Sengupta, Poorna, Madhoo, Bhagyashree in pivotal roles, with music being composed by GV Prakash, while legendary writer KV Vijayendra Prasad has penned the film's screenplay.
