The past couple of years have been nothing short of spectacular for Jayam Ravi, who tasted phenomenal success with the multi-starrer epic historical Ponniyin Selvan films directed by Mani Ratnam. All set to be seen next in the highly-anticipated Iraivan releasing in theatres worldwide on September 28, the leading Tamil actor recently took part in a special interview with Galatta to share his views about the psychological action thriller being made for a target audience, while also dropping a big update about his next project.

Speaking about Iraivan, Jayam Ravi addressed how the film is not catered to children and audiences who have watched him in family-oriented films. He said, "They (family audience) have laid that belief in me. In all fairness, I wish that everyone would watch the film, but I will not suggest the same since even many elderly people are afraid. Children cannot watch this. This is an 'A' certificate film and that is why we were bold and decided not to hide anything. We showed all the gore and violence in the film's trailer. It is up to you now as we do not wish to hide anything. This one film is as such and I cannot avoid that. This accusation has been leveled against me by everyone, including my well-wishers, but this is a film for a specific audience. And, I believe they will watch this and like it. It is for the people who watch cinema as cinema. When I get told that this isn't a family-oriented film and they will not watch it, I have only one reply: there are other films. I'm working on them simultaneously." Jayam Ravi then goes on to talk about his upcoming ventures saying, "I'm doing a film titled Brother and an announcement on another project is going to come out soon. The big announcement will be out on October 12. There are films in my lineup that are catering to all audiences."
