Ponniyin Selvan: 1 was one of the blockbuster hit films of last year, that ended with many cliffhangers. The second part of the film is set to be released on April 28 as the audience was eagerly waiting to know if the burning question will be answered. The film is directed by well-known director Mani Ratnam and is called as his magnum Opus. Ponniyin Selvan films are an adaptation of the popular historical fiction book series written by Kalaki about the golden era of the Chola dynasty. The film also has a massive star cast that includes Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Trisha, Prabhu, R Sarath Kumar, Vikram Prabhu, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Sobhita Dhulipala, Jayaram, Prakash Raj, Rahman and Radhakrishnan Parthiban.
The audio and trailer launch of Ponniyin Selvan: 2 was held as a grand event yesterday. Before the event, the cast of the film addressed the press and shared about the film. The actor revealed some interesting details about the second part of the film and spoke about their experience. While Addressing the press, Parthiban who is a director himself began on a sly note saying “It's hard for a Tamil speaking person like me to be cast in a film like Ponniyin Selvan. With that happiness, I added a sword to the dress. Like the public, I am also anticipating the release of the film, Thank You." As reporters asked about this role in the second part. Parthiban said "I am yet to watch the first part of Ponniyin Selvan. Because I wanted to watch it with the fans and got stuck and couldn’t watch the film. So, I don’t know which scenes were in the first film or what will be in the second part of the film. But I am proud that I am a part of the film. I received a good name in part 1 that I did my character well, though it was a small role. I hope part 2 will be the same." While answering another question from reporters, the director Parthiban revealed that the film has received 500 crores in the collection and said he hopes it doubles in the second part.
