Oscar Award-winning music composer A.R. Rahman is well-known across India and has a separate fan following for his music. The music composer made his debut with the film Roja and has gone on to do films in multiple languages and has also been a part of Bollywood ad Hollywood Projects. Last year alone, A.R. Rahman was a part of seven movies and among them, Iravin Nizhal, Cobra, Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu and Ponniyin Selvan: 1 were in Tamil. All the albums were hits. Recently, The album of the film Pathu Thala was released at a grand event and now the album of Ponniyin Selvan: II with seven songs is set to release today.

The audio and trailer launch of Ponniyin Selvan: 2 was scheduled to begin at 6.00 PM in Chennai. The trailer and audio of the film is to be released in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi. Day before the trailer launch AR Rahman posted a video showing that he was working songs for the film at Abbey Road Studios in London. A making video also showed the music composer working on composing the track with an orchestra of musicians and technicians working on mixing the songs. Minutes before the beginning of the audio launch event, the composer made an interesting comment about the mixing and making process of Ponniyin Selvan. The director tweeted "PS: 2 Kudos to my relentless mixing engineers for delivering over 35 masters for today’s audio release, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.” He has also added the hashtag sleepless nights, commitment, passionate.
