The two-part Ponniyin Selvan movie, that's an adaptation of the popular book series written by Kalki, has created huge anticipation among people. The first part that was released last year was a blockbuster hit and it's second part Ponniyin Selvan: 2 is set to be released on April 28. The movie is the Magnum Opus of Mani Ratnam produced by his production house Madras Talkies with Lyca Productions. The trailer and audio from the film were released in a grand event at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium yesterday evening.

‘Ulaga Nayagan’ Kamal Haasan was announced as the chief guest for the trailer and audio launch event of Ponniyin Selvan: 2. Apart from the huge cast and crew of the film, Silambarasan TR was also present at the event and Tamil Nadu Minister of Water Resources also felicitated the event. Kamal Haasan gave an intriguing speech at the event about the success of the first part
Kamal Haasan said there was a debate if the success of Ponniyin Selvan: 2 is due to love? or Valour? One needs the courage to take a film like this. The talented actor said he can say that the love for Ponniyin Selvan made Mani Ratnam make the film with valour and so both have won in this situation. He then said Durai Murugan (Tamil Nadu Minister) told ‘he was doubtful that as Mani Ratnam films are said to shot with low lighting, can he make the Ponniyin Selvan Movie?' Many people had the same question in mind, said the actor. He then said Mani Ratnam smashed such question in the first part. Now, the film is moving towards the second part successfully. So, this film is not just about the Golden Era of the Chola dynasty but could also be golden era of Tamil cinema. So we are delighted to withhold this golden era” said the filmmaker. He also praised all the cast and crew of the film, including A.R.Rahman.
