Two-time National Award-winning Tamil actor Dhanush's second directorial, the tentatively titled D50, also called as DD2, has wrapped up its production. The leading star dropped the big announcement on X in the wee hours of Friday, December 15, at around 1 a.m. and informed fans that the shooting on his next film as a director after Pa Paandi (2017) has completed its principal photography while extending his gratitude to entire cast and crew, including showing his thankfulness to Sun Pictures' producer Kalanithi Maran for extending his support in making his vision a reality. Dhanush wrote, "#D50  #DD2wrapped. My sincere thanks to the entire crew and cast. Also a big thanks to Kalanithi Maran sir and Sun Pictures for supporting my vision."(sic)

Dhanush has been pouring his heart and soul into D50 since it began filming in July this year, with a lot of excitement surrounding the film after it was reported that it was going to be a gangster drama. DD2 was first announced back in January along with a special poster giving audiences a glimpse at Dhanush, who had been sporting a bald look for his role since then. The D50 team had been carrying non-stop production right from the get-go and there is a lot of anticipation for the ambitious film's first look, which is expected to be unveiled sometime in the days ahead.

There has been quite a lot of secrecy surrounding the D50 star cast, which has been kept under wraps, with several big names said to be cast in pivotal roles in the film among whom include Dhanush's brother Selvaraghavan and filmmaker-actor S J Suryah. The only people who have so far been revealed to be associated with DD2 are the technical team members starting with cinematographer Om Prakash, editor Prasanna G. K., art director Jacki, publicity designer Kabilan, and costume designer Kavya Sriram, who have all previously collaborated with Dhanush on other ventures.
